Soon, quick power connections for colonies, apartments

Chandigarh, March 25
The approval of the electrification plan of the colonies and multi-storey apartments and buildings developed by private builders has been made quick and hassle-free in Haryana.
The Electricity Department, while coming up with a new policy for the approval of the electrification plan and sanctioning of electricity load for the private colonisers and developers of the special economic zones (SEZs), has devolved the powers to sanction these plans. Now, the electrification plans and sanctioning of the load will be done by the Director (Operation Circle) and not the Chief Engineer concerned as earlier.
Currently, as per the 2011 policy, the electrification plan for load up to 2,000 KVA for colonies and multi-storey buildings developed by colonisers is approved by the Chief Engineer (Operation Circle) concerned. For the load exceeding 2,000 KVA for colonies and multi-storey buildings, the plan is approved by the Chief Engineer (Commercial).
Both Chief Engineers concerned ordered the sanctioning of the electricity load after scrutiny of the case by the committee of Executive Engineer (Xen) (Commercial) and Xen (Power and Distribution).
“In order to avoid delay, the management has reviewed the matter and decided that henceforth all electrification plans of mutli-storey buildings and colonies developed by the private colonisers irrespective of their load shall be approved by the Director (Operation Circle). He will issue orders after scrutinising the case by the committee of Xen (Commercial) Xen (Power and Distribution),” the new policy said.
The new policy made it mandatory for the developers to install electrical infrastructure as per the Electricity Department’s design, drawings and specifications within a period of five years after approval of electrification and hand over the system to the department or the Residents Welfare Association. After completion of the electrical works and energisation of a particular phase, the entire electrical infrastructure of that phase shall be taken over by the department subject to attaining 25 per cent occupancy in that particular phase.
