Illegal and fraud tactics used by builders against dissenting buyers

I was reading a Hindustan Times article couple of days back about how Kanda, a builder, used his influences to remove opposition on his way. These same tactics are used by some of our 'reputed' builders in Faridabad against dissenting customers. Some of those who suffered are active members of this forum itself.

....Kanda had been pursuing a carrot and stick policy to keep the airhostess in his fold. He even tried to frame her in a false cheque bounce case, said a police officer.

"Kanda issued a cheque for Rs 3.5 lakh to pay for Sundale Education Society even though the account had been closed. He had also appointed Geetika as the chairman of the society to ensure that she was caught," said an investigating officer.

"Police have also found a forged character certificate of Geetika, which claimed that there were some criminal cases pending against her in Gurgaon. The same certificate was sent to Emirates in Dubai, where Geetika was working in 2010, on the basis of which she was sacked from her job.

"We found that the stamp on that certificate was of Civil Lines police station in Gurgaon while it was issued by the station house officer of a different police station," added the officer."

Investigators are looking for four mobile phones of some MDLR employees, including Geetika's, which she had returned after quitting the company in December 2011.

Police said Kanda was using three mobile phones registered in the name of his employees for calling up Geetika and sending her SMSs.

......recovery of an email that were sent to Geetika when she was working with Emirates (TOI has a copy). Police said Kanda's HR manager Aruna Chaddha had drafted the forged letter and it was mailed from the laptop of another HR employee, Khushboo Sinha, by assistant HR manager Shivroop. During questioning, Shivroop told police he sent the mail at Aruna's behest.

Police say Aruna mailed the draft to Shivroop, who created a fake ID, bhasir.emirates@hotmail.com, and sent it to Geetika, threatening extradition. The mail states that the sender represents the Dubai judiciary and a case has been filed against Geetika in Gurgaon, adding that she would be extradited if she did not reply to it within a week of coming to Dubai. Attached to the mail is a letter to the Consul General of India from the law department, seeking the Consulate General of India's help to extradite Geetika for failure to repay 50,000 dirhams to one Mohammed Ahmad al Karim.

I am NOT writing this to create fear. I am writing to exercise caution while dealing with builders. NEVER ever sign on blank paper. NEVER ever trust builders promises and committments.
