NEW DELHI: The proposals to extend Metro Rail from Badarpur to YMCA in Faridabad and from Mundka to Bahadurgarh were cleared at the meeting of Group of Ministers (GoM) held in the capital on Tuesday evening.

At the meeting chaired by finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, it was decided that out of the total cost of Rs 2,533 crore for the extension of Metro Rail from Badarpur to YMCA in Faridabad, Haryana will fund Rs 1,588 crore while the remaining Rs 544 crore will be provided by the Government of India. For the rolling stock, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will fund the expenditure of Rs 400 crore.

The Metro Rail from Badarpur to YMCA Faridabad will cover a distance of 13.875km and it will have nine stations. The work is expected to be completed by August-end in 2014.

In the case of the extension of Metro Rail from Mundka to Bahadurgarh, it was decided that it will be put into supplementary phase-III. From Mundka to Tikri Border, the work will be completed by Delhi government through DMRC. For the remaining portion of over five km from Tikri Border to Bahadurgarh, the Haryana government will provide the funds.
