Postby s1joshi » Tue Dec 11, 2012 3:21 pm

There are news about a major mis-happening at SRS Residency Sec-88. An under Construction Building of Nursery School has collapsed, It was 3 floor building and many labors found under that collapse. Several causalities reported. Image if the school has started, It could have been much much worse.

GFWA has been raising issue on construction quality for several year, which was never taken seriously by authorities. They were all waiting for some major accident to open their eyes.. Hope administration will finally wake up, learn some lessons, and take stern actions against builder flouting rules surrounding construction quality.

News channels have already been channelized and are on ground to cover the report.

Life is most precious gift, be it of laborer or residents, we cant let it loose for greed of some builders. We do not want to create panic situation, However the grim reality is that, In absence of regular quality control checks the construction quality of most building in Faridabad is in pathetic state, Unless we as end users start raising pressure on authorities, They will continue to play deaf ears on problems. This is not a first incident, barely 2-3 weeks back, Few laborers had to lose their lives when an under construction building collapses in Faridabad's Sarurpur Industrial area

Hi,

Every building that has been booked at 1350/sft, and which has been built recently, will have quality issues. The rate of construction way back in the 1350/sft days was 600/sft; today, it is more than 1,000/sft. Naturally, the builders will compromise.

All RWAs must get their construction quality audited by a reputed engineering firm and lodge cases wherever required.

Dear SRS Mates

We are really saddened by the today mis-happening where under construction nursery school building collapsed in SRS Residency and some loss of human lives of construction workers.

May god rest them in peace who lost their life and give strength to their family members.

RWA is closely watching the situation on ground and mostly all are on rescue site and ensuring safety of other towers/residents.

The all residential towers are absoluetly safe and there is no need to panic. Residents may go to their flats .

We are keeping very close watch on events and in touch with administration to finding the root cause and will deciding future course of action. We are very concern on quality of construction and would seek for independent audit from administration.

We will update you soon if further updates and can call a joint meeting very soon .The date and time will be communicated later.........

Regards
RWA Team

DTCP is primarily to blame for this mishap which mandates construction of schools but does NOT perform any quality checks whatsover. FIR has to be lodged against DTCP and builder for criminal negligence

Hi Pankaj,

SRS had nothing to do with this incident. The owner of the building is Mrs S Malhotra of Delhi and the building contractor, Arvind Gupta Constructions, is from Faridabad. This incident has nothing to do with SRS.

I believe SRS has sold school land which comes under common area of Group Housing Society as per Haryana Apartment Ownership Act, 1983 which is ILLEGAL. DTCP mandates SRS to build school. So, SRS can't run away from responsibility. Ditto with DTCP for criminal negaligence for not conducting quality checks

News from NDTV says thats SRS was building it.

http://www.ndtv.com/article/cities/thre ... pse-304138

Faridabad: At least three people were killed and many others injured when an under-construction school building collapsed in Faridabad on Tuesday. Dozens of labourers were feared to be trapped under the debris, an official said.

The three-storey under-construction building of Modern DPS School -- built by SRS group in sector 88 -- suddenly collapsed at around 12.30 pm, an official said. All the three dead were working in the building.

"Till now 10 people have been taken out from the collapsed structure, out of them, three were declared dead by doctors. Six of the injured are critical," Bijender Kumar, a spokesperson of the district administration said.

Deputy Commissioner Balraj Singh and Commissioner of Police Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor were at the spot and overseeing the rescue and relief operation.

"The building was almost complete and finishing work was in process. High rise buildings upto 18-storey tall are built around the collapsed structure. Families living in them have been asked to vacate as a precautionary measure," a fire officer said.

"At least 25 people were trapped in the building but eyewitnesses feared that the number could be around 100," an official said.

The academic classes (2013-14) were supposed to begin in the building in the coming months.

Nearly half a dozen cranes, 10-15 fire tenders and 20-25 ambulances were pressed into the relief operation.

"It might take a day or two to remove the complete debris," said another official.

"Once the rescue and relief operations are over, a criminal case against the culprits will be lodged under appropriate sections of law," the police commissioner said.

Yes, land comes under SRS Group Housing licence and SRS is mandated to build school by DTCP. They can't run away from responsibility by saying that they had contracted or sold to some third party.

NDTV and India TV are the most irresponsible news reporters. Modern DPS collapsed???? Are they out of their mind? They are maligning the name of such a big school when it has nothing to do with it. s**t news agencies with immature reporters.

I agree with Mr Dheeraj. All the big builders don't construct themselves, but the responsibility lies with the them. RPS has sub contracted to 3-4 contractors, but quality has to be maintained by RPS since we are dealing with them.

Last year there was a mishap in Bangalore in an apartment built by DLF. DLF had to take the responsibility. A case was also filed against DLF.

Hi All,

Yesterday I saw this news first in this website and thought of Nursery School as a small building.

But then I saw this news in PTC New channel and it seems to be a big collapse. The Building was of 3 floors and was quite big as they said it will take 2-3 days to get all cleared.

There was some Minister (forgot the name). He gave a statement that it was not because of any fault.but "JAMMEN DES GEYI".

IF THIS IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
BUT THIS SHOULD BE A MAJOR CONCERN FOR EVERY BODY LIVING THERE AND FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO LIVE in Greater Faridabad.

THIS COLLAPSE NEED TO BE TAKEN VERY SERIOUSLY.

HUMAN LIFE IS ABOVE EVERYTHING.

As expected, DTCP and SRS pass the buck. And police ridiculously registers case of negligence against owner of stone crushing unit. SRS told that it had leased out land to someone else whereas DTCP said that they are not aware what SRS did to school site. By law govered by Haryana Apartment and Ownership Act 1983, School land is common area in Group Housing society and can't be sold to anyone else and school should be constructed by builder. FIR of criminal negligence should be registered against both SRS and DTCP

Hindustan Times, 12 Dec 12 reports

http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-new ... 71609.aspx

Three labourers were buried alive and nine wounded when an under-construction play school building collapsed in Greater Faridabad on Tuesday. The incident happened at 12.45pm in SRS Residency apartments in Sector 88. Eyewitnesses said the collapse caused earthquake-like tremors. “I ran for safety when I felt the earth shaking,” said Dharamvir Singh, a security guard of the residential society.

The victims have been identified as Beeru and Gopal from Bihar Sharif in Bihar. The identity of the third victim is still to be ascertained.

Nearly 200 policemen came for the rescue operations. Only after their arrival did the rescue work begin. Most of the residents were asked to vacate their flats till the rescue work was over. “My family has been out in the cold since the afternoon,” said Shokinder, one of the residents of SRS Residency, said.

A rescue team from National Disaster Rescue Force was also called from Ghaziabad. “We are concentrating on the rescue work. After that, we will investigate incident and fix responsibility,” said Balraj Singh, deputy commissioner.

SRS spokesperson Sanjeev Grover told HT that the school site had been leased out to a woman from Delhi for 99 years.

But Sanjiv Maan of the District Town and Country Planning Board, Faridabad, said, “We have no information what SRS did to this school site. We should have been informed.”

“We have been crying ourselves hoarse for years that builders were dictating terms to both the government and investors. They have been violating their own agreements, and providing us poorly constructed apartments,” said Ajay Yadav, spokesman of Greater Faridabad Welfare Association, an organisation looking after welfare and concerns of the investors in Greater Faridabad.

Case filed in Monday mishap

new delhi: Police have registered case of negligence against owner of the stone crushing unit after four labourers died due to a wall collapse in Faridabad late on Monday evening. “We have registered a case of negligence against the owner and contractor of the crusher,” said the SHO of Sector 55 police post Devinder Singh. htc
