New Land Acquisition Bill - Doom For Neharpar?

Introduction

Under tremendous pressure applied by UP farmers and vested political interests led by Gandhi's Family Prince, PM has agreed to hasten amendments in Land Acquisition Bill and get it passed as early as next session of Parliament (November-December). Friends, this is called pressure and look at Real Estate Regulation Bill which aims to control builders unfair practices has been hanging fire for years.

What is there in Amended Land Acquisition Bill?

Amended Land Acquisition Bill calls for detailed social impact studies to be done before actual Land Acquistion can take place (In India, these studies can take years). Also, it calls for clearly establishing public interest when acquiring land.

Why it can spell doom for Neharpar?

If Land aquisition is not complete by Nov 2010, then it may take years for Land Acquisition as new law will be there which will involve years of delay. It will neither be beneficial to farmers nor to us as brand new flats will decay over the time and NOIDA, Greater NOIDA, Kundli, Gurgaon etc. will take over.

What we can do?

Best we can do is to somwhow force HUDA to reach at a consensus with farmers in next 1 month and complete the land acquisition. We can stage protests outside HUDA office, involve media, involve builders in the common cause etc.
