Govt to bring legislation to Amend Consumer Protection Act

Postby dheerajjain » Fri Mar 20, 2015 9:26 am

Govt. seems to be understanding consumer concerns i.e. unnecessary delays caused by adjournments and gross inefficiency of Consumer Forums in deciding even small trivial cases. Govt. is set to introduce Consumer Protection Amendment Bill which seeks to address these concerns. Let us all support Govt. in getting this bill passed. Let us lobby in whatever way we can

It is NOT passing a law as much as implementation and institutional involvement in implementation.
Crimes are NOT committed simply because there is no law. Crimes are committed because the laws and principles implicit in existing laws are NOT implemented. This is the reason for many crimes like burglary, rape, fraud etc. It is seen that laws are NOT implemented.
Examples
1. MPs took cash for query and are probably still taking. The SC ruled that MPs who took cash and did not ask question are guilty. SC did NOT realise that MPs took money from public funds for asking questions and also from some members of public(effectively same thing as double selling). These MPs are also guilty and should have been punished.
2. Former PM bribing a MP in parliament was debated for long in judiciary. Freedom of MPs in parliament does NOT include freedom to commit crime and taking bribe to vote in parliament is crime - this does NOT need a judgment in any court.
This is the reason The Constitution has failed.

Laws are made by Parliament. Modi Govt. which came to power becuase of widespread corruption in UPA Govt. is proposing law which will further protect corrupt bureaucrats. Proposed amendment says that if Sarkari Babu does work the right way if he is paid bribe, then it will not be called corruption. Also, doing sting while babu is taking bribe will lead to arrest of person who is doing sting and offering money to babu.

Amendments being proposed by Modi Govt. to protect the corrupt bureaucrats. These will make it extremely difficult for common man to prosecute a Govt. official who has taken bribe
