Lokayukta summons top DTCP official for inactionGHAZIABAD: The Haryana Lokayukta has summoned the director general of the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) on March 18, and has given a last chance to the license issuing authority to comply with its interim orders and take action against developers of Mayfield Garden.
During a hearing on Wednesday, the Lokayukta again expressed its displeasure over the DTCP's failure to take action against the developers of Mayfield Gardens for not providing basic amenities like power connection to residents.
"It has emerged that the director, town & country planning department is not taking serious steps for the rectification of defects in laying of the colony and removal of difficulties in its upkeep and maintenance and also grievances of public at large," observed the Lokayukta.
The district town planner Vijay Kumar, representing the DTCP, argued that the delay has been caused by transfers in the department and said that the process for cancellation of builder's licenses had been initiated. "My predecessor, Sanjay Kumar, who has now been transferred as DTP (Planning) Gurgaon had initiated cancellation of builder's license, but it could not be completed due to massive transfers of DTCP officials," said Kumar.
"On the request of DTP Vijay Kumar, a last opportunity is being granted to DTCP to redress all issues of Mayfield Gardens on or before the next date of hearing fixed on March 18, and the Director General, DTCP shall appear in person to argue the matter on merit on that date," the court said.
The president of Sheetal RWA, Dharamvir Yadav, who was present at the hearing, said, "The colony continues to remain in a complete mess due to the apathy of the DTCP. They being the license issuing authority must restrain the developers from misusing the license by registering criminal complaint against them and cancel their licenses."
