Difference between Carpet Area, Builtup Area and Super Builtup Area

Postby dheerajjain » Sun Oct 17, 2010 3:52 pm

Carpet area is the area enclosed within the walls and does not include the thickness of the
inner walls. It is the actual used area of an apartment/office unit/showroom etc.

Built-up area is the carpet area plus the thickness of the outer walls and balcony

Super built-up area is the built-up area plus the common areas such as the lobby, lifts
shaft, stairs, etc. .It may also include the swimming pool, garden, clubhouse, etc. It is proportionately divided amongst all unit owners. This term is therefore only applicable in the case of group housing societies.
