Land Acquisition troubles now for Delhi Metro to Faridabad

Even though Delhi Metro to Faridabad awaits final approval from authorities, Land Acquisition issues have already started taking toll. This time they are Malls of Faridabad due to which Delhi Metro has to change the route to get it pass through Center of NH-2. This will prove to be very difficult as already NH-2 planning has been done and there will be multiple flyovers coming at center of NH-2.

What is happening in Faridabad? Why Govt. there is not able to take decisions for betterment of Faridabad? Why it has become slave to greedy farmers, wealthy business houses and unethical builders?

The going seems to be getting tougher for the Metro rail link in Faridabad. On Tuesday, a large number of residents of three villages close to National Highway 2, near Ajronda, called on the nodal officer for Metro project and demanded that the proposed Metro yard be shifted to some other place.
“It seems the officials want thousands of people, whose land has been acquired by the government for the Metro project, to be pushed to starvation,” said Narveer Singh, one of the leaders heading the protests.

“We have strongly protested the official plan to set up a Metro yard in the three villages — Ajronda, Kewal colony and Sant nagar — in Sector 20A,” Singh said.

Confirming that the villagers did visit him and had raised the issue of dislocation fear, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) administrator D Suresh said, “The issue will be discussed in the coming joint meeting of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and HUDA officials.”

The HUDA administrator is the nodal officer for Metro project from Badarpur to Faridabad.

In the earlier proposal, some buildings, including a shopping mall, were coming in the way of the proposed Metro track, which was later changed. Even after the change, over a dozen institutional plots were on the track’s way.

The HUDA then decided to relocate owners of these plots in another sector. But so far, no headway has been made on the issue.

Looks like Harayana Govt is pretty serious on atleast the Metro construction.

Three new alternatives for metro yard: HUDA

The HUDA is likely to change the site for the development of Metro yard in Faridabad. The step assumes significance in view of strong protest by the people of three villages where the Metro yard is proposed to be set up. "We have selected three more alternative places for setting up of Metro yard
in Faridabad," Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) administrator D Suresh told Hindustan Times on Monday.

Suresh said, "Since the villagers are against the setting up Metro yard in Sector 20A area, the three alternatives are - Sector 20B, other part of Sector 20B and near YMCA Chowk close to Mathura Road."

Both Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and HUDA had proposed Sector 20A for setting up of Metro yard, which triggered protests from the three villagers.

The villagers’ strong protest against setting up of the Metro yard in their villages forced the officials of DMRC and HUDA to undertake fresh survey of the affected area on last Friday.
