Residents NOT to participate in Smart City Activities due to Non Development, planning Protests on 20th December

Residents of Sectors 75 to 89, Faridabad have decided NOT to participate in Smart City Activities for Faridabad due to lack of even basic amenities here like roads, sewerage, storm water, drinking water even after paying mind blowing Rs 5000 crores to Haryana Govt. as EDC (External Development Charges). Combined Front of RWAs have decided to hold massive street protests on 20th December. All home owners of Faridabad, please join protests for development.

Hi Dheeraj/All,

My personal view on this is we should be part of the progress and not the ones to stall this.

Protest: 100% support for this. We need basic facilities for Greater Faridabad and government/administration must speed up the work to provide these facilities for which we paid long back.

Smart city: After 68 years of independence, government has thought of developing smaller cities. The development in last 7 decades has been limited only to metros that too because due to surge in population in these cities, private players saw profitability and thus their participation resulted in whatever progress we see today. So far, GF is not under MCF so might not get benefits of smart city but even if Faridabad city(except GF) gets developed as smart city, I am in for it and will participate because the spill over benefits will be there for GF. Government does not lose anything if Rohtak or Karnal are chosen as smart cities but we do. We lose even the spill over benefits in this case.

Besides this, lets push for inclusion of greater Faridabad area in smart city giving reasons to government and the administration why it should be added like:

-Part of the energy requirement is already assumed to be through solar water heaters in all the projects of GF.
-Sewage disposal/drainage systems are already planned.
-Rain water harvesting systems are already planned.

So making above work, the govt doesn't have to do the kind of work they need to do to develop old city. They just have to expedite what is planned and be strict in monitoring so that the above things are implemented in actual.

I would suggest we take up inclusion of GF in smart city plan with Government and administration and be part of the progress.

This protest would surely awaken administration to develop the area fast. Would request all to join in big numbers to make this successful.

Vineet/All, we are NOT saying that we are opposing Smart City. Message is that we will not participate in activities of Smart City since Govt. has decided to exclude sectors across Nehar in Faridabad (Sectors 75 to 89) for Smart City. When it comes to Delhi Metro Funding, Govt spends money from EDC collected from these sectors but when it comes to Development of these sectors, Govt. does not spend a penny.

Hi Dheeraj,

Yes, metro is funded by EDC of GF area but this has no link to smart city project. Metro was announced and commissioned much before smart city project.

In my opinion, we should participate and push government and administration to include GF in smart city project. Collectively, we can do it.
