Over 5,000 DDA flats unallotted

New Delhi: Residents of Delhi may be waiting for Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to offer new flats, but there are about 5,970 flats lying vacant in the city.
These vacant flats are in various categories, including high income group (HIG), middle income group (MIG), low income group (LIG), self financing scheme (SFS) and economically weaker section (EWS). In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, minister of state for urban development Deepa Das Munshi submitted that the highest number of vacant flats are in LIG category (2,744) followed by EWS (1,290) ,SFS (898) and MIG (866).
The maximum flats are in Dwarka (1,908) followed by Rohini (1,811) and north Delhi (1,113). Currently there is no proposal to auction these flats.
