GURGAON: The MCG House meeting on Wednesday discussed a proposal wherein plots whose size is less than 100 sq m will also get their building plans sanctioned. At present, the building plans of only those plots which are above 100 sq m are approved by the MCG.

MCG commissioner Praveen Kumar was of the view that since Delhi sanctions the building plan for plots which are 32 sq m in size, the Gurgaon civic body can also do something similar for the benefit of residents.

However, for this, certain changes will have to be made in building bylaws. “The draft is already being prepared and should be ready very soon. Once the bylaws are ready, we can sanction the building plans for plot that are around 32 sq m. Till now in Gurgaon, construction in plots that were less than 100 sq m were considered unauthorized as their building plan was not approved. This change will spell relief for residents,” said an official.

The House also passed a proposal to set up a water management board in Gurgaon, which will be similar to Delhi Jal Board. This will, in likelihood, be under the MCG and will also handle sewerage system. A resolution was also passed to allow the Rotary Club of Gurgaon to set up a blood bank in the premises of a MCG building in Kadipur. However the House objected to the proposal to grant a 10 acre land in Sikanderpur to badminton player Saina Nehwal and therefore the matter was kept pending and will be discussed in the next House meeting.
