CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has referred back Lokayukta’s report recommending a criminal case against chief parliamentary secretary Ram Kishan Fauji in an alleged cash-for-CLU scam in Gurgaon, asking it to “re-examine” the matter.

The Lokayukta had recommended filing of an FIR in the matter pertaining to a video footage purportedly showing Fauji demanding Rs 5 crore bribe for Change of Land Use (CLU) licence for a piece of land along the NH-8 in Gurgaon.

“We have examined the Lokayukta report. Reference has been made by the government to Lokayukta to re-examine and re-consider the entire matter,” said S C Choudhary, chief secretary of Haryana.

“The report is not a binding upon the government… we have to examine Lokayukta’s findings and observations before taking any action,” Choudhary said.

Accusing the state government of “covering up” the issue and “insulting the institution of Lokayukta”, INLD has threatened to launch a state-wide agitation.
