GURGAON: The Haryana Urban Development Authority on Thursday started the process of cancelling plots allocated on the basis of false affidavits to defence and paramilitary personnel.

HUDA’s decision to send notices to such plot-owners came within a day of the Punjab and Haryana high court asking it to submit a report on allocation anomalies by December 4. The biggest beneficiary of this web of counterfeit is Colonel Karan Singh Yadav of Gurgaon, who has managed to get 16 plots.

A senior HUDA official said, “Proceedings of cancelling plot allocations have been initiated according to the directions of the HUDA chief administrator. The action-taken report will be submitted by the office of the estate officer II, Gurgaon.”

According to records accessed by TOI, false documents were used to bag as many as 69 plots in Gurgaon. Across Haryana, the number is 369. Details on allocations under the reserve category to defence and paramilitary personnel, war widows and the disabled were dug out by RTI activist SK Sharma, who is also a party in the case being heard in the HC.

Sharma said: “This is gross violation of HUDA rules and everyone in HUDA offices knows about the allotments. But no one is taking action against the discrepancies.” HUDA rules say defence personnel are supposed to furnish an affidavit at the time of applying for plots under the scheme. “They (the officials) gave false certificate just to make easy money,” Sharma alleged.

HUDA officials claim all 369 allottees had been issued notices. “If there is no satisfactory reply from them (allottees), the plots will be cancelled as per the HUDA policy,” an official said.
