GURGAON: More than 200 residents of Rosewood City, Sohna Road, took to the streets on Saturday in protest over their long-standing demands and against a school building in the congested D Block of the colony while flouting all the rules and regulations.
Around 10am on Saturday, the residents came to the street in front of Klay Nursery School located in D Block, while shouting slogans against their builder, Euros Group, for trying to build another school campus in the already congested colony and also lack of redress of their several other demands over the years.
The residents’ morale was boosted by the presence of the 14 members of JAFRA, headed by Col. (Retd.) Ratan Singh, JAFRA chairman. “The present place is not conducive to having another school. The area is already congested. If the builders don’t fulfil the demands of the residents we will take the matter further and offer all kinds of helps to the residents,” said Ratan Singh.
The colony already has a nursery school. The existing school has been creating a lot of traffic problems for the residents. “The builder is trying to build another school in D Block while the entry and exit points will be from D Block and it will create more problems to the already congested colony. The road in front of the colony is narrow, just 10 feet wide. Since there is no parking space in the colony, how can they accommodate additional traffic here,” asked Dharmendra Jha, Rosewood City RWA president.
Residents also complained that none of their demands have been fulfilled despite repeated requests to the builders. Many women and senior citizens were among the protesters. “For the last two and half years, we have been writing to the builders but the management has not replied. The Estate Management makes a lot of promises but never keeps them. Even the RWA went to meet the top officials of the company at Nehru Place in New Delhi but the security man did not allow us to enter the office complex,” said Sudhanshu Shekhar, RWA Rosewood City secretary.
When TOI contacted Ajay Sood, managing director of Euros Group, Ajay Sood, he said, “Our officials are looking into the incident.” TOI later learnt that the digging work for the school building construction has been stopped.
