GURGAON: The HUDA chief administrator has been directed to submit a status report on the action taken against the ex-servicemen owning HUDA plots in violation of the rules.

The direction came during a hearing of Dharam Singh Yadav, who had moved an anticipatory bail petition in a court. HUDA has started criminal proceeding against Yadav for violating the rules to get plot allotment under defence quota.

In the hearing, the petitioner had submitted that he had been singled out, as there are other violators who are not facing action.

In an affidavit, HUDA chief administrator A K Singh had submitted that action against 34 violators had been taken and fresh instructions have been issued to all zonal HUDA administrators and estate officers to scrutinize the allotment record and initiate criminal proceeding.

TOI, in the past, has reported about allotment irregularities under defence quota but the local HUDA officials have gone slow in taking action.

In the hearing, after going through the affidavit, the court observed that it has been filed in half-hearted manner.

“It doesn’t say as to what would be the outcome of the scrutiny in case the plots allotted are found to be more than the entitlement in the light of the fact that the plots are being allotted for the last many years,” said the court said.

The court also observed that it was not convinced by the stand taken by the HUDA.

Giving two weeks time to file a fresh affidavit and status report, the court said: “Let the chief administrator, HUDA, Haryana, be present in the court and file an affidavit as to what steps are required to be taken to ascertain the allotment to different categories, including the general category.” The affidavit, the court further ordered, should also mention the list of the allottees who have been allotted more than one plot.
