GURGAON: Residents of an illegal colony in the Islampur area thrashed three HUDA employees on Tuesday afternoon, when a HUDA team reached Sector 38 to carry out a survey of illegal constructions.
HUDA officials had come to the site in the morning and found several illegal constructions being carried out on the land. They instructed a survey and the illegal colony to be carried out. “The houses were being constructed and the occupants, mostly villagers, picked up arguments with the HUDA team,” said a senior HUDA official.
Officials said, the land on which illegal construction was going on belongs to HUDA, but encroachers refused to stop work. “The illegal houses were in different stages of construction and the officials explained to the residents about the illegality,” said the official.
HUDA now plans to demolish all illegal houses in the colony and reclaim the land that will then be developed as per the master plan. Officials held a meeting with Gurgaon police to plan the demolition process. “The drive will now be carried out with adequate police personnel and the local administration. Action will be taken against any miscreant coming in the way,” the official added, refusing to divulge the date of demolition.
The three employees suffered injuries and were taken to a private hospital. Sensing the seriousness of the incident, an FIR was registered at a city police station that has started investigating. tnntnn
