GURGAON: Officebearers of Park View Resident Condominium Association (PVRCA) in Palam Vihar have been living in fear over the last two months following threats issued by a few residents, who allegedly want them to quit. Approaching the police and submitting evidence, including threat emails, photos and video footage, has been futile because the complaint has fallen on deaf ears.
ACP Ashok Bakshi finally called the RWA members to the Udyog Vihar police station on Tuesday, but they were made to wait for over an hour. Bakshi did not meet them eventually, on the pretext that it was a holiday. “I am not aware of the case but I will meet them tomorrow and look into the matter,” he said.
“Our complaints consisted of physical harassment, breach of public tranquility, life threats and safety of office-bearers of the association. We also provided adequate proof to the cops and have been complaining from last November. They are not taking our complaints seriously and we are scared for our lives,” said Anoop Rohera, executive member, PVRCA.
Rohera also said that the complaints to the police had backfired. “The probe was initially being handled by an ASI who allowed the accused to take photographs of our complaints which resulted in more open threats to us. We realized that police actions are even more damaging to our complainants,” he said.
He suggested that competent officers or the state vigilance bureau carry out a fair investigation. Rohera said that the members also wanted an inquiry to be conducted into the ASI who “seems to be favouring the accused in the name of scrutiny” and added that his mobile phone data be retrieved to verify communication with the accused.
