GURGAON: Residents of Mayfield Gardens in Sector 51 have approached the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) against the builder for not providing adequate power infrastructure in the colony.
The petition has been moved by Dharam Vir Yadav, president, Sheetal Residents Welfare Association, demanding action against the builder for violating the HERC rules. “There is no planning to improve the power infrastructure in the colony and no action has been taken against the builder either by the DHBVN or the civic authorities,” said Yadav.
The HERC will take up the petition next month.
The petitioner has demanded that the deficiency in electricity distribution system be inspected by a competent authority.
“The developers should be made to pay the cost of setting up the 66 KV sub-station and external electrical distribution network,” said Yadav.
He added that the complete electrical infrastructure of Mayfield Gardens should be taken over by the DHBVN for operation and maintenance. “At present, the residents are pooling money to repair the cable and transformers in the colony. Last year we, hired a transformer to ensure regular supply in the colony because the discom refused to help us,” said Yadav.
The transmission and distribution of electricity system has been carried out in complete violation to approved electrification plan with least regard to safety norms. “The complete electrical infrastructure is faulty. The doors of feeder boxes are broken. No safety norms in place. The cables are connected in haphazard way and current leaks from the feeder panels,” said the petitioner.
The developers of the township have sold plots and dwelling units without ensuring adequate electrical infrastructure in the colony and have failed to comply with provisions of the Electricity Act 2003. “This is detrimental to the hapless residents and consumers who pay sums of money to the colonizer at the time of purchase of the plot only to later discover that there is no electrical infrastructure which had been provided by the colonizer, said Yadav.
