Industry drive on plot ownership

GURGAON: Udyog Vihar’s industrial association has recently launched a drive to get more plot owners to apply for official conveyance deeds on their purchase. Many entrepreneurs, according to members of the Udyog Vihar Chamber of Industries, “do not possess conveyance deeds because they have never applied for it even after having made full payments”.

“The subject needs to given serious thought otherwise it will land the plot owners here in trouble. If you don’t have the conveyance deed, you are not really the owner of that plot,” said an association representative.

Ownership issues of this kind abound in Gurgaon’s industrial belt. Many have challenged HSIIDC’s estate management clauses, which, in more than one way, restrict full ownership rights of the plot owners. Transferring or leasing out an industrial plot, under the present norms, requires getting the industry authority’s sanction and shelling out extra money as transfer or leasing fees.

“We have challenged these clauses legally. In the next few days we will be meeting officials to discuss the issue. Haryana’s additional chief secretary has been given the responsibility to sort out our case, which highlights the issues we have with the current estate laws,” said an industrialist in Udyog Vihar IV. tnn
